“Everything I know about the Universe, I learned from the Mandelbrot Set.” FractalWoman
There is a concept in the standard model of cosmology called the “Cosmological Principle” which states that the laws of physics are the same everywhere. In this model, there is no place in space or time that is unique or special.
However, what I have come to realize from studying fractals, and in particular, the Mandelbrot Set, is that every point in space and time is different. Every point in space and time is unique and special. I refer to this as the Fractal Cosmological Principle. This explains why “you” are different than “me” and why we are different than our ancestors. This explains why there are different, yet similar (self-similar) plants on different continents, both past and present, and why galaxies look similar, but different in different parts of the Universe. This explains evolution because, in order for “things” to be different in both space and time, things must continuously change.
In “The OM Particle” I explain how this must be so. The Mandelbrot Set has taught me so much about the fractal nature of the Universe that we live in. This is not a secret. There is no mystery. This is an intrinsic truth. Every point in space and time is unique and special, just as every human being on earth is unique and special.
Embrace your uniqueness. Embrace your differences. Embrace the fractal paradigm.
